2. " If you are here for having your back slapped, enjoying praise from the brothers and sisters. Step down now."
Good lord, if they followed that admonition, they'd have no elders left.
the new elder school, appears to be a major flop and a waste of time for the society, the more i research it.
it appears much of the information the elders learned, went in one ear out the other, a failure to implent it.
if you attended this school, have you notice these newly "fired up and full of zeal brothers eager to help?.

my personal story: i grew up as a jw, left, went to college, and have a career.
i have a spouse, married for many moons, wonderful kids, normal house, cute dog, and newer cars.
the "american dream".
So, my JW sibling is visiting me, but is constantly, constantly, constantly, constantly talking about the relative and comparing what this relative has to me.
Just so I'm clear, this is the same sibling that has never married, never had children, and still lives at home?
i believe today's witnesses lack zeal, resolve, "love" of the "truth"......just to name a few things.. years ago, witnesses were excited to knock on doors and tell people they were gonna die if they didn't accept paradise.. now, when you see jws in service, they all look zombied out.. it's a slowly dying religion that will last probably forever like an ancient rotted out tree..
They've become far more numbers-oriented, especially with regards to their ministry. The people they encounter in the ministry are secondary to making their service report look good. The process of converting someone through the door to door ministry has almost become a forgotten art.

Note to self- Don't open any more of mankkeli's threads. They're amusing and all, but I can't help but think that we're enabling a mentally disturbed individual.
i recently started questioning my beliefs and i am not happy with what i found out.
i am married to a born in who admits that wtbs has some problems.
one of his favorite scriptures to quote is psalms 146:3 to "not put your trust in nobles", including the so called fds.
failed prophecies and misguided doctrines may well be put down to imperfection . . . but lying about it later, and presenting a contrived version of events, is not imperfection . . . it's deceit.
This point is worth repeating. Getting something wrong is imperfection. But the WT depends so heavily on its members believing that they are inspired. Any acknowledgement of error, especially with regard to prophecy, will undermine this. So they go to great lengths to cover up their mistakes, even to the point of rewriting their history. That isn't imperfection, that's deceit.
this explanation was taken from the reasoning book, page 204.. how do jehovahs witnesses arrive at their explanation of the bible?.
a key factor is that the witnesses really believe that the bible is gods word and that what it contains is there for our instruction.

bohm and sab : Calm down and dont resort to name calling
Pot, meet kettle:
Your last question stood you out as an extremely stupid idiot.
Or is name-calling a privilege reserved exclusively for you?

if you claim the watchtower add non biblical rules to suport their doctrines, please mention one of those rules.
I believe he mentioned several. Or did you only want him to mention one?
i figured out it's been 4 months and 5 days since my last meeting ever.
july 10th, it was a sunday.
i hadn't been there in 2 months or so and decided to see if anyone noticed i'd been gone.
November of 2005. It was the Sunday meeting before Thanksgiving. I moved out of the territory right after that. I've been back to the Kingdom Hall on two occasions, both times for funerals.
i'm watching this movie, it's a horror movie.
it seems to be based on the crazy westboro church, except they are doing more than just protesting funerals.
it's scary!
Yeah, I rented it about a month ago. It was actually made by Kevin Smith, of Clerks and Jay and Silent Bob fame. I thought it was pretty intense.
JCanon. He was born for it.
